Danish badminton has a long and strong tradition in international badminton politics, and together with the other Nordic countries we have a very strong candidate, in Klavs Andreassen for the election as Vice-President of Badminton Europe.

Klavs Andreassen has been involved in badminton for nearly 40 years, and for 20 years he was the chairman of his local club Virum Sorgenfri BC.

He is currently chairman of Badminton Zealand where he was elected in 1997 and since then and up until 2013 he was also a member of Badminton Denmarks Council

“I am very proud that I’ve been asked to join the running for the position as Vice-President. My main aim is that Badminton Europe in the future will be an even stronger unit where all members will join forces in developing European badminton,” says Klavs Andreassen in a statement.

“It’s also very important for me that we work very hard in developing Para-Badminton. Some countries are already very far, but I will put a lot of effort in trying to convince a united Badminton Europe that we need to put more focus on Para-Badminton, and the importance in getting the sport selected for the Paralympic Games in 2020,” Klavs Andreassen continues.

Badminton in his heart
Klavs Andreassen is well known in Danish badminton for big involvement and huge contribution in developing the sport on a national level.

“We are extremely happy that Klavs has accepted our request to be our candidate. We are convinced that he will be a terrific Vice-President to the benefit not only for Danish badminton, but in for a strong Badminton Europe,” says Chief Executive of Badminton Denmark Charlotte Malmroes.
