After the conclusion of the semi finals, only five matches remain to be played in this year's edition of the Yonex Denmark Open. Here's a quick overview of the finals

Men's singles
First match on court no. 2 this Saturday was a game of men's singles. The tournament's biggest surprise, 23 year old Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk from Thailand, had reached the semi final in which he was up against Chinese second seed Chen Long.

He fought well, the young Thai, but the tall Chinese proved to be too strong for him in the end. Chen Long won the match by 21-18 / 21-13, and will in the Sunday's final, for a third straight year, face Lee Chong Wei, who beat Du Pengyu in his semi final.

The two gentlemen also faced each other in the final in Odense in both 2012 and 2011, with the Malaysian as the winner last year and the Chinese as the winner two years ago.

Women's singles
The audience in Odense Sports Park got to witness two very entertaining and well played matches in the women's singles category today.

World no. 6, Sung Ji Hyun, beat world no. 7, Wang Shixian, in the first semi final, which ended 21-19 / 21-14 in favor of the Korean, while Wang Yihan in the second semi final of the day defeated the world champion, Ratchanok Inthanon from Thailand. That match ended 21-23 / 21-19 / 21-17.

Men's doubles
Yoo Yeon Sung is the defending champion in Odense. Tomorrow he will have the possibility to reclaim the title, but with a new partner.

While he last year partnered with Shin Baek Choel, he is now teaming up with Lee Yong Dae, and together the two Koreans today managed to beat Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe in straight games and progress to the final.

In that final they will be up against the world champions, Indonesian Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, who in their semi final today beat the third seeded Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa from Japan.

Women's doubles
Bao Yixin and Tang Jinhua had a day off at the quarter finals, where their opponents Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli withdrew from the tournament. Maybe that day of rest benefitted them today, where they were up against Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan.

The Chinese won the semi final in three games by 19-21 / 21-15 / 21-15, and will tomorrow face Danish duo Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl, who also beat a Japanese pair in their semi final, namely Reika Kakiiwa and Miyuki Maeda.

Mixed doubles
The mixed doubles final at the Yonex Denmark Open 2013 will indeed be a clash of the champions. That became a fact after today's semi finals, where both the reigning world champions and the reigning Olympic champions won their respective matches.

First, Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia beat Chinese second seeds Xu Chen and Ma Jin, and afterwards, Zhang Nang and Zhao Yunlei, also from China, beat Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen, making sure that the tournament's mixed doubles final will feature Chinese participation.
