It wasn’t at all an easy win for Denmark’s best mixed double, Christinna Pedersen and Joachim Fischer Nielsen, who played their second match in Odense Idrætspark Thursday night.
Facing Kenichi Hayakawa/Misaki Matsutomo from Japan, number 13 on the world’s ranking list, the Danish mixed double troubled playing their game and especially avoiding making easy mistakes.
- I don’t know why, but we were unfocused today and doesn't play as good as we usually do here at Denmark Open, but luckily we win, Joachim Fischer Nielsen says after the close match, 27-25/22-20.
Normally the Danish mixed pair, currently ranked number three in the world, doesn’t have any trouble finding their game here on the home courts in Denmark.
- It’s positive that we win even though we don’t manage to play our best at all. We win on bad days, which is also one of our strength, and in the end that’s the most important, Fischer Nielsen says.
The Danish mixed specialists are now facing 8th seed Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na from Korea in the quarter final Friday.
