Line Damkjær Kruse/Marie Røpke Thursday showed the crowd in Odense Idrætspark that they are able to beat some of the best women’s doubles in the world. The two Danes played the match of their life and won their match against 6th seed Ma Jin/Zhong Qianxin, 22-20/16-21/21-15.

Chinese Ma Jin doesn’t normally loose a lot of matches here in Odense Idrætspark. Last year she won the Danish tournament in women’s double AND in mixed doubles, but this year the Chinese badminton star is not going to play any more women’s doubles.
Ma Jin and her partner Zhong Qianxin were stopped already in second round, defeated by the two Danes Line Damkjær Kruse and Marie Røpke.

After incredible fight, the Danish girls got one of their greatest victories in their carrier.

“It was a really great match today. We stick to our plan, we are moving forward towards the net all the time, and we manage to keep the discipline and do not force anything. We didn’t make a lot of mistakes, we are so happy”, Line Damkjær Kruse says.

“It is always fantastic to beat the Chinese. Ma Jin is one of the best players in the world so it’s a huge win for us this one”.

Danish clash in quarterfinals
In Friday’s quarterfinals Line Damkjær Kruse and Marie Røpke are up against a couple that they know really well. They are facing their compatriots and second seeded Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl, to whom they recently lost in three sets at London Grand Prix Gold.

“They are favourites to win, but that doesn’t mean that we will not go for it”, Line Damkjær Kruse says.
