The cold Danish weather was a main subject at the press conference at Yonex Denmark Open.

While the very first matches at this year's Yonex Denmark Open were played on the green courts in Odense Idræthal the official press conference for Danish and International journalists took place.

Three of the big names at Yonex Denmark Open 2013, the Danes Mathias Boe and Christinna Pedersen and Indonesian Hendra Setiawan, attended the press meeting. Once again the cold Danish weather became a well discussed subject.

"I can see that Hendra ( Setiawan , ed.) is freezing, it is a lot colder here than home in Jakarta I guess ," Mathias Boe said, laughing, as one of the first .

The Indonesian player, wearing a big sweatshirt, agreed.

" It's so cold here ," Hendra Setiawan said.

Danes do not miss the flight
Concerning the two Danish representatives at today's press conference, they revealed there joy and happiness playing at home.

" We love playing here in Denmark in front of our own crowd . And then of course it is nice not to have to spend so much time on transport ," Christinna Pedersen said.

" It's nice to avoid 20 hours in a plane and play without jet lag , so it might give us an advantage compared to the Asians. But of course, the best Asians have tried this situation many times , so I do not really think it will have a big impact , " Mathias Boe said.
"Odense is my hometown and I'm looking forward to play in front of my family and friends , so I am very happy to be here."

Do not talk about medals
The three players also talked about their expectations for the tournament.

" Usually we are not lucky with the draw , but this year it looks good. I think we can go far, but it's all about motivation. We can loose to many couples, if we are not playing our very best," Mathias Boe said.

Hendra Setiawan , who defeated Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen in the men's doubles final at the World Championships in August with his partner Mohammad Ashan, spoke with the same humility.

"I 'm not looking far ahead in the tournament. We should be focused in every game , so we take it very step- by-step ," the Indonesian said .

No doubt, that there will be high expectations to the Danes at Odense Idrætshal, but for Christinna Pedersen the biggest pressure comes from inside.

"I feel really no special pressure from fans or coaches . The biggest pressure comes from myself , but I will promise that we will give everything we have" , Christinna Pedersen said.

Christinna Pedersen will be playing mixed doubles Tuesday evening, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen start Wednesday, and Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ashan will have to wait until Thursday to swing their rackets in Odense Sports Centre .
