In a match with a lot of power and great attitude and energy the home court favourites made their way to the quarters only giving away 18 points in total.

It is not that common in professional badminton that players from different countries partner up but that is nonetheless what Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen opponents today have done.

Sannatasah Saniru is from Malaysia and Nadia Frankhauser is from Switzerland. Together they are ranked as number 70 in the world and today they faced Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl at their home court in Odense.

The Danes stepped on court to a loud round of applaus and with big smiles on their faces. Energy was in the air!

It was clear from the start that the Olympic silver-medalists took their smiles and energy with them onto the court which gave them an excellent start.

Great movement and a player at the net who was more than ready combined secures an 11-4 lead at the interval. At that point the outcome of the set was actually already determined and the Danes seemed to lose focus a little bit as the set ended 21-15 in favour of Pedersen/Rytter Juhl.

From the beginning of the second set the Danes were 100% focused again. They made sure to really move their opponents around on court which gave them great opportunities to attack with the terrifying power the whole world knows they manage.

By the interval they had a 11-2 lead and afterwards their opponents only got a single point! That meant a 21-3 victory in the second set. It was clear that the Danes were better than their opponents today

- We have a strategy that says not to see any match as easy. It will be so frustrating to go out and lose because we have underestimated our opponents. We try to stick to the same routines no matter if we are facing a top 100 or a top 5 double

Despite an uneven match Pedersen/Rytter Juhl still had a great deal of respect for the way their opponents handled being completely overmatched.

- Since the Olympics it has been clear to us that our opponent are extra eager to beat us, but the ones today didn’t stand a chance. They gave it everything and they just kept on smiling. It was like they just enjoyed getting to play against us and I think that was a very cool attitude says Christinna Pedersen.

With the win today we have not seen the last of the Danish double here in Odense and hopefully we will see much more from them in the future as well

- We still have dreams, and we would really like to win another tournament together. I don’t know which one exactly, but maybe Denmark Open laughs Kamilla Rytter Juhl and continues.

- To stand on top of the podium together is just incredible!
