Odense Idrætshal was packed to a maximum when the star from Odense, Viktor Axelsen, made his way into the second round after a three-set win against Jeon Heyok Jin from Korea.
It might be cold outside in Denmark in these days, but the temperature in Odense Idrætshal kept getting higher and higher as the match between Viktor Axelsen and Jeon Heyok Jin went on.

The hometown boy got a great start and really controlled the first set which he won 21-14.
The second set got much tighter and after having survived a matchpoint, the Korean secured the second set 24-22,
In the deciding set Viktor Axelsen was back on track and the victory was never really in danger of slipping away. With 21-10 Axelsen made sure that he will be playing at his home court again tomorrow.

After the match the young Dane was very happy to be through, but wasn’t quite satisfied with everything about the match.
- To me the game was a was a little bit up and down. I played a pretty okay first set, but in the second set he starts attacking without much speed, and it was difficult for me to respond to that which disappoints me a little bit. With that being said, a victory is a victory in these kind of matches.

It was important to Axelsen to be able to control his nerves, so they wouldn’t be a factor for the outcome of the match.
- I think I controlled my nerves very well, but once you start playing less well it’s obviously frustrating. I was able to shake it off and I am very pleased with the fact that I won this match, says Axelsen.
He will be on court again tomorrow in an exciting match against Lee Hyun Il from Korea.
