The Danish men's singles has really shown that he performs when the tournament is Yonex Copenhagen Masters
Between Christmas and New Year Yonex Copenhagen Masters is played, and if you look in history books, it is clear that the big stars, big talents and a very big star have been doing good in this tournament.
Peter Gade won at the age of 23 his first title at the Copenhagen Masters, and now he can write 10 titles on his Masters resume. He has more titles than any other in the tournament, where among others Morten Frost (4 titles) and Thomas Stuer-Lauridsen (1 title)
have won the trophy. Recent Danish winner besides Peter Gade in the men's singles is Jan Ø. Jørgensen, who took the title in 2009, and this year for sure it will be a battle between the King of the Masters of those who will take his place.
Many big names
But it is not only in men's singles, the Danish players since 1986 have shown up from the best. Previously active players like Jesper Helledie Steen Fladberg, Lene Køppen, Thomas Lund, Lars Paaske and not least the six times winner in the women's singles, Camilla
Martin, also reached the top of the podium.
Large foreign names have also been found at Yonex Copenhagen Masters. In men's singles, former Chinese top player Sun Jun collected two titles, and the only women's singles, who have won the Olympics twice, Zhang Ning of China, also has won the title twice.
In the doubles names like Candra Wijaya, Tony Gunawan and Flandy Limpele have put their names on the trophy, but the biggest names are probably the four-time world champions from China in men's doubles, Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun, who won Copenhagen Masters back
in 2006.
Active winners
But it is not only big names and four times world champions who have won the doubles categories. More active players have Copenhagen Masters titles on the CV. Among others:
Jonas Rasmussen, Joachim Fischer Nielsen, Chris Pedersen, Tina Baun, Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl.
