The draw for Yonex Denmark Open 2011 is ready
The big week approaches. The week where the world's greatest badminton players will compete on Danish soil, and today the draw for the tournament took place. A tournament which takes place in Odense in week 42.
In men's singles three of the four Danes in the main event ended in the same quarter and they have to work hard from the start. Peter Gade will in the first round play Chinese talent Wang Zhengming.
- It's a tricky first round against a good Chinese, but it’s always tough in these tournaments. We play for Olympic points, and he is a player who will make it hard for me. But if I play well, I will beat him. Unfortunate we have three Danes in the same quarter,
but let's try to get a purely Danish quarterfinal Peter Gade says.
Hans-Kristian Vittinghus will play Taufik Hidyat in the first round, while the local hope Viktor Axelsen is up against Przemysław Wacha from Poland.
- It's just one of the better draws, I could get. I'm certainly not without chances, and I go into the game with the belief that it is one that I can win. I have opportunities to get a good match, but I dare not think beyond the first round. The tournament
has never been stronger, so I dare not take anything for granted, Viktor Axelsen says after today's draw.
