Sugiarto takes big scalp and defeats Srikanth

10/15/2015 2:39 PM |  XXBadmintonDenmark.com - Gamle |  Anders Rud Nielsen
Tommy Sugiarto won against Srikanth, while top seeded Chinese went through to the quarter finals in Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa.

There was not doubt before the match.

World NO. 5, Srikanth, would run into fierce resistance, when he met the best men's singles of Indonesia, Tommy Sugiarto. From the beginning it looked difficult for the Indian super star, Srikanth, and Sugiarto won the first game 21-15.

- Keep it simple, the coaches constantly underlined throughout the match, but Srikanth was in big trouble. The tendency continued in the second game and he lost 21-15/21-17.

- I had a few smash outs, but Sugiarto played very well today. It was a bad game for me, and as the coach said, I should have kept it more simple, Srikanth says. He is staying in Denmark until sunday, and then he travels to France for French Open.

- I have to win French Open, he says.

Chinese dominans as expected
Earlier this morning the Chinese super pair, Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan, met Chen Hung Ling and Chi-Lin Wang from Chinese Taipei. In only 27 minutes Fu and Zhang made it clear why they are number three at the World Rankings List. 21-17/21-11 was the result.
Also the Chinese women’s singels Li Xuerui was in action right from the early morning. After the loss in the final at Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa last year against the spanish gold nugget, Carolina Marín, she is back in Odense for revanche.

And that was evident at todays game against the young Akane Yamaguchi from Japan, who has had a great streak lately with a semi final in Yonex Korea Open and a silver medal at homeground in Yonex Open Japan. Xuerui was never really in trouble, and she won 21-16 21-19.
