China is very strong when it comes to women’s doubles. Therefore they will have a lot of favorites at this year’s Yonex Denmark Open, as presented by Danisa. However, it’s almost certainly not going to be easy for them as many other pairs will do what they must to get the top spot on the podium – among them the home ground favorites Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl.
Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei, China
It’s not to be taken for granted that the two players will be placed together by the Chinese coaches. However, when they are, they are without doubt one of the best pairs in the world, as could be seen at the World Championships in Jakarta. Now, luckily for the Odense crowd they are going to play together at Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa. The Chinese pair have won the World Championship, both this year and the last, along with the Olympics in 2012. Zhao Yunlei is a fantastic double player who has also won the Yonex Denmark Open before in the mixed doubles. Now she will try to take the throne in women’s doubles.
Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl, Denmark
The Danish women’s doubles made national history when they won silver at the World Championships in Jakarta. This was a first for Danish badminton and, of course, made the Danish girls very proud. Now they are going to play on home soil in Odense and there is no doubt that they will have the crowd behind them, as they will have when they play abroad. The popular Danish pair won German Open this year and were also part of the national team which won gold for mixed teams at European Championships.
