16 couples fight this Tuesday - fighting to get one of four places in the main tournament. The Denmark Super Series began today with the qualification in the mixed doubles tournament. And the spectators could manly watch Danish talents playing as 10 out of 16 couples in the qualification were Danes. Two of those pairs started of on court three as Mads Pedersen and Joan Christiansen played their young opponents, Lena Grebak and Niclas Nøhr. The match could easily been played in their training hall, as both pairs represents Solrød Strand. Pedersen and Christiansen are ranked higher in their club and showed why today when they won 21-16 and 21-16. Youngsters ate Germans Two very talented Danes, who both won bronze medals at the World Junior Championships, Line Kjærsfeldt and Kim Astrup also won their first match today. They beat Till Zander and Isabel Herttrich who were seeded 2 in the qualification. The Danes played stunning in the first set winning 21-10 but the Germans fought their way back into the game and actually were in front with 16 to 14 – but seven points in a row by the Danes ended the match. Afterwards, Line and Kim said they were glad to win and looked forward to tonight’s match against a strong Japanese pair.
