Høyer running for President

It was a unanimously Council that nominated Poul-Erik Høyer as a candidate when Tom Bacher informed Council that he did not seek re-election for another term as President of Badminton Europe.

The Council justified their nomination of Poul-Erik Høyer with these words:

Following his decision the Council of Badminton Europe discussed at length desired profile characteristics of a future President who would be able to continue and strengthen the positive development of the Confederation. Among other aspects, management and marketing skills, extensive working experience in the field of sport and knowledge of badminton were considered important. After intensive search and consideration Council unanimously agreed to approach Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen as a suitable candidate.
Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen has been one of the most successful European players, of the recent past, by winning the 1996 Olympic men’s singles gold medal. After finishing his playing career he has gained management skills and work experience in football and handball besides working in various sport media. He has always been a great ambassador for our sport and enjoys great respect and friendship in the world of badminton.
Council has taken into consideration the fact that Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen would be the third consecutive Danish President of Badminton Europe. However his sportive and work experiences are so convincing that Council believes that he would be an excellent representative of the European Confederation. Council was delighted, that when approached, he felt honoured to accept becoming a candidate as the next Badminton Europe President. He would, if elected, resign as Vice-President for Denmark BA.”
