Just two Danish girls are on court on Tuesday night fighting for a spot among Wang Yihan and Tine Baun in the main draw.
The foreign players were tough on the Danish talents but Camilla Martens managed to overcome her English opponent Nicola Cerfontyne. Camilla Martens is from Odense and therefore she was the center of attention. The home crowd was excited by Martens’ performance winning 21-18, 21-16.
- When I first got going I felt good. I had expected a tough match, because I met her a few months ago where she beat me, says Camilla Martens, who is glad to be playing in front of friend Nevertheless she was the only Danish girl who made it to the Qualification’s final where she is to meet Simone Prutsch from Austria.
Another Camilla - Overgaard – was close to make it further in this tournament. She fought bravely but could not defeat Tse Ying Suet from Hong Kong. After a long match the Asian girl came out on top winning 21-11 in the final set. Easy win for Zhu Lin.
Another great talent must realize that hard work was not enough today. Karina Jørgensen – who recently won the Czech International – put up a good fight but lost against Liu Xin 21-17, 21-17.Christina Andersen brought good news for Denmark, when she defeated her Norwegian opponent and became the second Danish girl in the second round of the qualification. Even though Camilla Martens shined another player was the biggest star. Former world champion Zhu Lin is back on the big stage and after not playing tournaments for almost a year, she has to play in the qualification.
But the Chinese star did not have any kind of trouble winning her first match 21-13 and 21-14 against Pai from Chinese Tapei. Zhu Lin will now face Spela Silvester.
