Carsten Mogensen/Mathias Boe, world ranking: 1, Denmark: The Danish Champions have had a fantastic year and they have finally reached the top of the world ranking. They have won the prestigious description as “world’s best” because of stable play and great results throughout 2010. Especially this fall the pair has shown they deserve the first place. After loosing in the quarter finals in the World’s in Paris, they went to Germany and won the Bittburger Open. But it was not over for the Danes who collected two more and greater victories at the Super Series level. First at home in Odense, where they won their first Denmark Open-title before they doubled it by winning the week after in French. Earlier this year they were close winning the All England, but after a long final they were left disappointed – the very same situation in last year’s Copenhagen Masters, so Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe must be eager to win their first Copenhagen Masters title.

Markis Kido/Rian Sukmawan, world ranking: 3/35, Indonesia: They are just brought together for this special tournament, and the spectators in Copenhagen will definitely know one of the faces. Olympic champion Markis Kido has for a long time topped the world ranking with his partner Hendra Setiawan, and back in 2007 they also won the World Championships. But this year they only won one major title as they were crowned winners of Asian Games. His new partner Rian Sukmawan uses to play with Yonatan Dasuki and they are always dangerous to run into for the top favorites. With a whole bunch of trick shots the pair are always a thrill to watch and the two guys has reached the final in the Indonesia Gold Grand Prix this year as their best result. It is exciting to see what the Indonesians will bring to Copenhagen.

Mak and Tan have already settled in the group of pairs just under the top pairs in the world, and the young players know which way to go: Forward, just forward. They have proved this year that they are close to reach the top, when they made it to the last 8 in Japan Super Series and they have also good experience about playing in Denmark – they played their way into the quarter finals in this year’s Denmark Open, where Mak and Tan were beaten by Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe.

Mads Conrad/Jonas Rasmussen, world ranking: 46/16, Denmark: The last pair is the new Danish hope represented by the former world champion Jonas Rasmussen and the youngster Mads Conrad. They were put together after the World Championship to aim for the coming Olympic Games in London. Even tough they had not played many tournaments together yet; it will be very exciting to see how far they are in their progress. Jonas Rasmussen has achieved great victories this year with his former partner Lars Paaske as they won the All England and the Euro’s in Manchester. And furthermore Jonas Rasmussen is defending champions at Copenhagen Masters, because of his victories the two past years.
