Nevertheless it was the Russian player, who performed best in the beginning of the match. Winning 21/19 she looked confident, but Yao Jie fought herself back into the game. She forced her Russian opponent to make mistakes and therefore she won 21/16 and 21/14.
The victory makes Yao Jie favorite in the semifinals tomorrow, where she is to meet the loser of the match between Tine Rasmussen and Lydia Cheah.
