The scene was set for Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe as they got on court for their first match at this year's Copenhagen Masters. Their opponents were the Malaysian couple Hee Chun Mak and Wee Kiong Tan and there was no doubt as to whom the audience was cheering for. The Danish couple got a warm welcome with loads of clapping and cheering even before the match had begun. And the Danes did not let the crowd down, as they got off to a fantastic start leading 8-0. And after that, the Malaysian pair never really made their way back into the set, which Boe and Mogensen won 21-10. And the second set was just as dominated by the Danes as the first one. At the break Boe and Mogensen were leading 11-4. During the game, the Malaysians started playing a lot better and managed to put some pressure on the Danes, but in the end Boe and Mogensen were simply too strong. With the scores 21-10, 21-9, they gave the audience a true demonstration of how gifted they are. -We controlled the game from the beginning and I don't think they really believed that they could win, Carsten Mogensen says. And the fact that the audience was backing them was also important, they reckon. -It is always a great feeling to have people cheering for you and today we really felt it with all the kids clapping and cheering from the moment we entered the court. It's nice that people know who we are and it really gave us a boost of confidence, Mathias Boe says. Now, Boe and Mogensen can look forward to playing the final tomorrow. Their opponents are yet to be found, but either way the Danes are eager to prove themselves, as they have never before taken the title at Copenhagen Masters. -Now, we have to relax and prepare for tomorrow. We don't know who we are up against yet, so when we know we are going to prepare more specifically. But we will definitely do our best and hopefully we will win this year, Carsten Mogensen says. |
