Two doubles made it through Rasmus Bonde/Simon Mollyhus was up against A. Chandra/H. Gunawan from Indonesia. Chandra/Gunawan is fifth seed in the tournament and currently ranked as number seven in the world. But the Danes were fearless. They played fantastic and won the match 24-22 21-17. Simon Mollyhus has been injured for a long time and it is only their second tournament together. It was an impressive victory for the Danish players.
Anders Kristiansen/Kasper Henriksen won their match against Sanave Thomas/Rupesh Kumar from India 21-18 21-12. The Danes played a really good match. They didn’t make many mistakes and even though they were nervous for their first match here at Odense, you couldn’t see it on the court. Yet another Danish double showed their potential here at Odense. 2 x Mads out Mads Kolding/Mads Conrad-Petersen played against Kenichi Hayakawa/Kanta Kazuno from Japan. The Danes won the first set 21-11 and had a good flow in their play. But the Japanese got stronger in second set and the Danes could not keep up. They lost the set 18-21. Third set was also a close race. Unfortunately it didn’t turn out the right way for Mads and Mads. They were defeated 21-18 in third set. A second set surprise Christian Skovgaard/Mikkel Elbjørn Larsen played against Kien Keat Koo/Boon Heong Tan from Malaysia, who is second seed in the tournament and number two in the world. The two young Danes lost first set 10-21. But second set turned out fantastically for the Danes. They won 21-19 and the crowd started believing in a big surprise. But the Malaysians got their focus back and won third set 10-21.
Mats Bue/Rene Lindskow, who made it through the qualification on Tuesday, lost their match against M.Abdul Latif/M. Mohd Tazari from Malaysia 11-21 14-21.
