The former world champions Kamilla Juhl and Thomas Laybourn have been getting better and better each day at Denmark Open. And in today’s semifinal they gave the crowd a spectacular show. In straight sets they overpowered their opponents, the second-seeded Indonesian couple Hendra Gunawan and Vita Marissa with the scores 21-19, 21-11.

The two Danes seemed confident throughout the game, smiling and playing along with the noisy audience who seemed to love every rally. And the Danish players are clearly feeling the support on court.

-It means a lot to have the crowd with you and especially when they are as motivated as they were today, Thomas Laybourn says.

The third-seeded Danes have not won the title at Denmark Open since 2005 but tomorrow, they will do their very best to finally grab a hold of it.

-Of course we are really eager to win the title. We have been playing close to our top level and  hopefully we can add a couple of percentages to that. Then we will have a good chance tomorrow, Laybourn says.

Robertson and Wallwork sent Thai couple packing

And Juhl and Laybourn’s opponents for tomorrow will be the English sixth-seeded couple Jenny Wallwork and Nathan Robertson. Yesterday they sent the topseeded Polish Mateusiak and Zieba out of Denmark Open and today they took another seeded couple down, as they beat Saralee and Sudket from Thailand 21-16 18-21 21-16. Jenny Wallwork, who is just 23 years old, is thrilled to be in her first Super Series final.

-We feel fantastic! This is my first final so I am feeling brilliant. We played some of the best that we have been playing for the last couple of days, which is great for  We will take that confidence with us to the final.

For the crowd, it means that there will be more familiar faces on court, as both Englishmen have played in the Danish League.

-I have always enjoyed coming to Denmark, it is a second home to me. My old club Skagelse-Skælskør is not to far from here, so there are probably some supporters from there, and it is always nice to have some support, Robertson says.

And tomorrow, the English couple will do whatever it takes to come out on top.

-We are definitely looking forward to it. We have come up against them a few times before, but we are just hoping to play our best and hopefully we can win that title, Wallwork says.
