The first 8 matches in the men’s singles tournament have just finished and the most highlighted match was no doubt Viktor Axelsen playing Matthieu Lo Ying Ping. The home crowd was thrilled to se their favorite play at highest level and Axelsen really gave them something to cheer for. He felt better on court than in his first qualification match.
Afterwards he was pleased – especially with his offensive play. But although Axelsen was optimistic he was still aware of his coming opponent: Jan Ø. Jørgensen is most likely to wait in the second round in an all Danish match.
Despite the great result for the Dane Hans-Kristian Vittinghus could not make the day better for the Danes. Even though he was in front by 14-3 in the final set, he lost 24-22 against Anand Pawar, India.

Boonsak overdue Yamada

One of the top favorites in this tournament Boonsak Ponsana can not be pleased with his draw. Today he was to play Yamada from Japan who made it to the last 8 at the World Championships this summer.
Ponsana had some trouble in today’s match. After a solid performance in the opening game, Yamada stroke back and won 25-23 and forced the match into a third and final game. Boonsak proved here he is in Denmark to win and finished the match in 70 minutes. Boonsak will now face Parupalli, India, who defeated Scott Evans in two straight games.
