Last year his Denmark Open ended in the semi-finals, but this year will be different. Jan Ø. Jørgensen is through to the Final after a brilliant match today and a massive win against Hu Yun. The Dane dominated the first game completely. Jan Ø. seemed very calm and played with confidence and patience.
That combination was too much for Hu Yun who only was allowed to win 12 rallies in the opening game. Hu Yun tried his best to shock Jan Ø. Jørgensen, but the Hong Kong player only shocked by winning the first five rallies in the second game. Jan Ø. closed the match winning 21-17. His celebration showed he was truly emotional by being in the final.
The dream final
He completed his match in the beach style. No shirt, just shorts. The t-shirt ended among the audience who loved him this Saturday. They show their appreciation by giving and standing ovation when he left the stadium. And of course, Jan Ø. Jørgensen is thrilled being in the final:
- It’s amazing to be in the final in my home tournament, I have been watching the tournament since I was a little kid, so it is amazing to have reached the final, says Jan Ø. Jørgensen.
And Jan Ø. Jørgensen gets his favorite opponent. Earlier this week he wished for a clash with Taufik, and he will face his Indonesian idol:
It is a dream coming true to play the final and especially against Taufik, he is one of my idols and I have watched his game since I was a little kid, he says.
Jan Ø. Jørgensen lost his two first battles against Taufik but the latest one – Malaysia Super Series 2010 – he actually won. Because of that Jan Ø. Jørgensen seems confident:
I think it’s a good memory to have in your baggage, and know that you can do it. I know it will be a very tough match, and I have to perform at my highest level to have a chance, but I have showed in this tournament that I am able to do it and I will fight for it. | |
