The talent takes on the veteran. That is what best describes today's encounter between young Danish talent Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and one of the most experienced players in the world, Wong Choong Hann. Having won two European tournaments recently, Hans Kristian Vittinghus was expected to bring a great amount of confidence to today's game. On the other hand Wong Choong Hann should be eager to redeem himself from yesterday's narrow defeat against Boonsak Ponsana. And he was. In the first set HK - as the Dane is nicknamed - was able to hang on until the middle of the set, where Wong raised his level and won the set 21-15. However, the crowd kept standing by their home court debutant and in the second set the Dane got off to a good start and was up 7-5. But once again the Malaysian picked up the pace and won 21-16. -I actually felt pretty good on court, but my game just did not go the way I planned. I was way too aggressive and could not keep my focus and made too many easy mistakes. But it was a nice experience to play in here, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus says. Next up for Hans-Kristian Vittinghus is Boonsak Ponsana, who beat Wong Choong Hann in a spectacularly close match yesterday. And the Dane is keeping his head high. -I am looking forward to improving my game to night. It will be a good challenge for me and a match at a high level, he says. |
