It was the underdog in the women’s singles category, Lydia Cheah, who began the match in the best way. With a 11/8-lead in the first game, she made the spectators wink a couple of times.
A clearly unsatisfied Tine Rasmussen fought her way back into the game an won the first game 21/15.
Tine Rasmussen had also the power in the second game, but the young Malaysian proved her talent, and the match was truly well-played.
But even though Cheah did fine, she could not keep up with Tine Rasmussen, who won the second game 21/10.
Tine Rasmussen will therefore play Ella Diehl, meanwhile Lydia Cheah have to beat Yao Yie, if she wants to play in the finals on Tuesday night. | | BadmintonPhoto |
