Jan Ø. Jørgensen took home his first Super Series title as he beat the top-seeded Taufik Hidayat in two close sets 21-19 21-19. After a hard period for the Danish star in the making, Jan Ø. has proven that he has what it takes to be among the top stars of International badminton.

After winning the last rally, the Dane showed how to celebrate a victory as he jumped around and threw his racket to the audience. And Jan Ø. was clearly extatic about winning on home ground.

-I have been dreaming about this since I was a little kid, so I am so proud and happy to be standing here now. And it feels amazing to win it here at my home event, Jan Ø. says.

From the beginning of the match, Jan Ø. managed to get the initiative on the net, which is usually Taufik’s strongest feature. Also, the Dane seemed confident on court as he has throughout the entire tournament.

-Earlier, this year, when I was behind I had problems with my mental focus. But this tournament has been really good and it is the major factor why I won the title here at Denmark Open, Jan Ø. says.

But there will not be much time to celebrate. Tomorrow morning Jan Ø. will be going to Paris along with the rest of the Danish troup to play the French Super Series tournament.

-Obviously, I want to make a good result in French Open, but in the big perspective my next goal will be to reach top five in the world and be a part of that group.
