The mixed doubles final in Yonex Denmark Open was another clash between archrivals Ma Jin/Xu Chen from China and Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia.
Ma Jin and Xu Chen finally triumphed with a two sets win 22-20 and 21-15 against fourth seeded Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir.
Ahmad and Natsir made their way to the final by a straight win 21-10, 21-15 against another Indonesian pair Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili. The defending All England champions seemed in good shape after Ahmads injury which kept the Indonesians out of World Championships in Ballerup.
Ma Jin and Xu Chen made their way to the final played against Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin from China and they won easily 21-12, 21-9.
Before the final Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir was leading 9-5 in the head-to-head count against the Chinese.
The two pairs delivered a master class in the first set, where Ahmad and Natsir took the lead at 12-7. But the Chinese closed the gap, and got their first game point at 20-18. Ahmad/Natsir managed to tie the game at 20-20, but finally lost first set 22-20.
In The Chinese taking the lead to the interval 11-6, due to a few easy mistakes from Ahmad / Natsir. Finally, the Chinese took the second set and the title with 21-15.
After the match, Ma Jin and Xu Chen said:
- We are very familiar with our opponents, and we played well today. We have prepared us for the match normal as we always do, said Xu Chen.
- I really like Denmark. I enjoy the environment and enjoy playing in Denmark, and I feel very comfortable her, said Ma Jin.
The next big goal for Ma Jin and Xu Chen is the Olympics in Rio, and they are looking forward to play at lot of tournaments and matches to qualify for Rio in 2016.
