Saturday at Yonex Denmark Open was all about getting into the finals at this prestigious tournament, and therefore we saw some very good and exciting matches throughout the day.

Men’s singles

Last year’s winner Chen Long didn’t have many problems with getting in the final. He was up against Kashyap Parupalli from India, who won his quarterfinal against the Dane Jan Ø. Jørgensen yesterday. Today he couldn’t do anything against the world champion who won in two games 21-16/21-15.

In the final Chen Long will be competing against Son Wan Ho from Korea, who played a very good match facing Tian Houwei from China. Son Wan Ho won 21-17/21-9.

Women’s singles

The final tomorrow will be between the two Chinese players world number one Li Xuerui and world number three Wang Yihan who won Yonex Denmark Open last year.

Li Xuerui was up against Ji Hyun Sung from Korea in her final and she didn’t have many problems reaching getting through the semifinal. Li won easily 21-17/21-12.

Wang Yihan also just had to play two games when she was facing Wang Shixian. The defending champion won her semifinal 21-19/21-12.

Men’s double

In the men’s double tomorrow Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong will try to defend their titel from last year when they are up against Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan from China.

The Korean were playing the best Danish men’s double Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen who had the crowd behind them all the way. But it wasn’t enough for the Danes as the world’s number one was simply too strong. Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong won 21-14/21-17.

Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan were up against the World Champions from Korea Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Choel. The Chinese won 21-15/23-21.

Women’s double

The final in the women’s double will be between Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang from China and Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi from Japan. Both pairs were up against fellow countrymen and won.

Wang and Yu who won against Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen yesterday were facing Ma Jin/Tang Yuanting. In three games Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang won 21-14/19-21/21-11.
