The favorites in the men's doubles tournament went through to the second round. Indonesian Ahsan/Setaiwan played a very close match, while the Danes Mogensen/Boe left no mercy against their young countrymen.
The Indonesian second seed Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setaiwan did not play their best in the first round against Japanese Hashimoto/Hirata. The match were close right from the beginning with the Indonesian favorites unable to take control. The Japanese almost won the second game, after surviving a couple of match points. However, in the end Ahsan/Setaiwan won and advanced to the second round, winning 22-20 and 24-22.
Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan was once again put together as it has been the case for the main part of 2014. They played against the young Danes Mathias Christiansen/David Daugaard in their first round match. The Chinese double started the match very comfortable and with very few mistakes, winning the first game 21-12. The home crowd got a much more exciting second game, supporting the young Danes. The Chinese favorites managed to survive to game points and finally won the game 22-20.
Home favorites Carsten Mogensen/Mathias Boe proceeded to the second round without any problem, winning 21-7 and 21-5 against the young countrymen Mathias Bay-Smidt/Frederik Søgaard Mortensen.
