Danish Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen have played their last match at Yonex Denmark Open 2013. New Korean men’s double pair Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong defeated the Danish Olympic silver medallists 21-18, 21-13. Mixed double Christinna Pedersen/Joachim Fischer Nielsen also lost their semi-final.
The Danish crowd was hoping for another Danish win at Yonex Denmark Open when home favourites Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen played their semi-final in Odense Idrætspark Saturday afternoon.
In the beginning it seemed like the Danes were focused and eager to fulfil that wish. Fast playing Koreans didn’t manage to get many points because Boe/Mogensen were totally in control of the match. But leading 11/5, the Danes suddenly started making a lot of stupid mistakes. The Koreans won some easy points and suddenly they were the ones succeeding getting all the points by putting speed and accuracy in every rally. A wrong decision from the umpire at turning point 20-18, also frustrated especially Mathias Boe.
In second game the two Danes didn’t manage to find the motivation. Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong kept playing fast and the Danes couldn’t keep up and lost 21-13.
Mathias Boe was disappointed after the match:
“We had a really nice beginning and felt good in the first part of the first game, but then we make a lot of easy mistakes. Its our own fault that we let them in into the match”.
“We never play for loosing and right now there is nothing to be happy about with this third place”.
Pedersen/Fischer stopped
The Danish mixeddouble Christinna Pedersen/Joachim Fischer is also out of the tournament. They lost in two games to world’s number one Chinese Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, 21-18/21-15.
