The defending world champion in women’s singles,  Intanon Ratchanok from Thailand , is through to the quarter finals at Yonex Denmark Open . But a victory in two games against the Czech Kristina Gavnholt was not enough to satisfy the young star.

In the first game Ratchanok was in absolute control and won 21-12.After the break between the two games Kristina Gavnholt played better and at 17-17 she had the opportunity to make a surprise. But Ratchinok showed why she is world champion and took 4 points in a row and won the set 21-17.

But it wasn’t enough for Ratchinok, who was unsatisfied with her own play after the victory.

“My game was not as well as I wanted it to be. I didn’t feel as well on court as I did yesterday but I tried hard to make it work,” she says and continues.

“This was not my best match. My footwork wasn’t well, but I’m happy that I’m through to the next round. Now I’m aiming for the semifinals,” she says.

Xuerui through
The first seeded Chinese, Li Xuerui, is also through to the quarter finals after an easy 21-10 / 21-13 win against compatriot Yu Sun.
