When Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White enter the court together today, there are no more white beaches on Hawaii or fancy hotels in Las Vegas. Last Sunday they returned from their honeymoon, and now they have to work hard instead of relaxing.
“We had the best trip, it was really nice. Both Las Vegas and Hawaii was great. In Las Vegas it was a bit busy, but in Hawaii we just relaxed and Chris did a little surfing, but the waves are very big there,” says Gabrielle White.
Today they are playing their first match since they came home, when they meet Praveen Jordan and Vita Marissa from Indonesia. Even though they haven’t had the typical preparation they still feel ready and fit.
“We did a bit workout in the gym when we were on honeymoon, but of course we don’t have the highest expectations. We believe we can win today and of course we will do our best,” says Chris Adcock.
Enjoy playing together
For many couples it might be a challenge to live together, travel together and use almost every hour of the day together, but the English mix double see it as an advantage.
“It’s really nice for us because a lot of the other players miss their family and friends when they are away. We have each other all the time, and sometimes we go out and have a nice dinner or something like that. It’s really nice,” says Chris Adcock.
People always ask them if they don’t argue all the time. But it’s really not a problem for the newlywed couple.
“We know each other really well and we have the same goals. So we are just being honest with each other, and I know if Chris tells me something I need to improve it’s just to make sure we develop and get better,” says Gabrielle White.
