An exciting day of semi-finals in Odense has come to an end and we now have our 10 finalists for tomorrows finals at Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa.

In the first match of the day the Thai Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk took on Brice Leverdez from France. Yesterday Leverdez defeated world no. 1 Lee Chong Wei in an intense an tough match in three sets. 

Today it seemed like there was no more power left in the French as he lost clearly in straight sets 9-21, 13-21 sending Saensomboonsuk into his first final at a Superseries Premier tournament.

He will be up against Son wan Ho from Korea who defeated Lee Hyun Il, also from korea, 21-14, 21-16

Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen got the crowd cheering and shouting as they defeated Chris and Gabrielle Adcock 21-16, 21-18 after being down 14-18 in the second set.

In the final they will face Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen from China for the first time.

In women’s singles Carolina Marina Played yet another three set match, this time against Akane Yamaguchi from Japan. In the third set the Japanese turned out to be too strong for the Olympic champion as she won 21-15, 19-21, 21-18.

Yamaguchi will face Tai Tzu Ying from Chinese Taipei in the final.

Today’s two semi-finals in men’s double were extremely entertaining.

First, Isara and Phuangphuapet from Thailand defeated Pratama and Suwardi from Indonesia 21-11, 21-18 after a match were the Thai pair returned shots laying down on the floor several times.

Today’s last match was Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe against Goh and Tan from Malaysia. It was a clash between the 2012 Olympic silver medallists from Denmark and the 2016 Olympic silver medallists from Malaysia.

The Danes had a lot of support from the crowd, but quite many Malaysian fans had also found their way to the Arena today. The fight was on both on and off the court!

In a very close first set the Danes won 22-20, but then it seemed like the Malaysians stepped up a little bit which was enough to turn the match around. Goh and Tan won the remaining two sets 21-15, 21-11.

The final in women’s doubles will be between Olympic champions Matsutomo/Takahashi and Olympic bronze medallists Jung/Shin.
