Olympic bronze medallists got their revenge

10/21/2016 10:55 PM |  XXBadmintonDenmark.com - Gamle |  Stine Greve

When Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan faced Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen at the Olympics the Danes won in straight sets. Today it was the other way around.

The crowd in Odense didn’t get it the way they wanted as they saw their favourites in women’s doubles, Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen, lose their quarterfinal against Jung/Shin.

The match never really got intense as the Koreans had full control all the way through. Today Pedersen/Rytter Juhl simply made too many easy mistakes to turn things around and make a comeback.

- We are up against a world-class opponent and if we are not there 100% they will force us to make mistakes and that’s what happened today. It should have been us forcing them to make bad decisions, says Christinna Pedersen.

The Koreans won 21-18, 21-17 and are now ready to face Maheswari and Polii from Indonesia in the semi-final tomorrow.

After the match the Danes were disappointed as they felt like the turnaround of the match wasn’t that far away.

- I feel like we weren’t that far away from beating those two today, but unfortunately we didn’t just make our own points, we also made theirs which makes it easier for them to get the lead, says Pedersen.

A little comfort for Pedersen is that she is through to the semi-finals tomorrow in mixed doubles with partner Joachim Fischer
