It’s time for the second round in all five categories, and it is safe to say, that there will be some interesting matches to follow today!

In the men’s singles Europe is very well represented as both Marc Zwiebler, Brice Leverdez, Anders Antonsen and Viktor Axelsen are on the programme.

Zwiebler is facing the sixth seeded Son Wan Ho from Korea, who defeated home court favourite Hans-Kristian Vittinghus yesterday.

Brice Leverdez from France is also up against a seeded player as he takes on fifth seeded Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei.

Danish qualification player Anders Antonsen has been playing very well and will face his toughest opponent so far as Rajiv Ouseph from England, who is seeded as number eight, awaits.

Another Dane to look out for today is Viktor Axelsen. He is up against Lee Hyun Il from Korea, who is always dangerous when he is playing well. Axelsen is ready for the match but he knows that I might be difficult.

- It will be yet another difficult match and he defeated Jan Ø. Jørgensen in Japan but I hope I can play at a high level so he can’t keep up.

In the women’s singles Carolina Marin from Spain is back in action as she plays against Na Young Kim from Korea. It will be exciting to see, if the qualification-player can put up a fight as good as Julie Dawall Jakobsen did against Marin in the first round.

The seventh seeded Sun Yu from China is facing Mette Poulsen in her second round match and that match is also worth keeping an eye on, as Poulsen has been playing well on home court in Odense so far.

The winner of the silver medal at this year’s Olympics, Sindhu from India, is playing world number 12 Sato from Japan in her second round match.

The Danish Japan Open champions and winners of silver medals at the Olympics Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen cruised through their first round match yesterday, so it will be exciting to see, if they will be tested a bit more today, when they are taking on Nadia Fankhauser from Switzerland and Sannatasah Saniru from Malaysia.

In mixed doubles Sara Thygesen and Mathias Christiansen from Denmark are on a tough job against Chris and Gabrielle Adcock, who are seeded as number four here in Odense. It will be interesting to see what the new Danish constellation can do against England’s best mixed double.

Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen are also back in action and takes on Bodin Isara and Savitree Amitrapa from Thailand.

In men’s doubles we are in for a real treat! Three players from the men’s doubles finals and one from the mixed doubles final at the 2012 Olympics.

Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen takes on Xu Chen and Fu Haifeng from China in what could be an extremely well-played and exciting match.

- It’s an opponent we know very well separately. It will be exciting to see what kind of shape they’re in after the Olympics, but it will definitely not be a walk in the park. We will give it everything we’ve got and then we will see how far that can take us, says the Danes.

With a day like this ahead of us, Odense Idrætshal is the place to be today!
