The program for Yonex Denamrk Open presented by Danisa is ready and from the start there will be many Danish players on the courts.
When Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa begins Tuesday October 18 at 9.00 a.m. it will be with four Danish doubles against four foreign doubles.
Kim Astrup/Line Kjærsfeldt, Alexander Bond/Ditte Søby Hansen, Nicklas Mathiasen/Gabriella Bøje and Jeppe Bay Madsen/Cecilie Finne-Ipsen are the first Danes on the courts and according to Kim Astrup that is a special thing.
- Of course it always fun to be one of the first Danes in action on our home court. It’s definitely a special thing to do that. We got the crowd on our site and our family and friends will be there. I hope Line and I will start a good “Danish day”, says Kim Astrup.
Kim Astrup/Line Kjærsfeldt are first seeded in the qualification and they will meet Jonas Jansen/Franziska Volkmann from Germany who are number 552 on the world ranking meanwhile, the Danes are number 68.
- I think we have some good chances to qualify for the main tournament. We have to play to good games and I think we got the level to do so, says Kim Astrup.
If Kim Astrup/Line Kjærsfeldt win against the Germans, they will face the winners of Bond/Søby Hansen and Oliver Leydon-Davis/Gronya Somerville from Australia.
At the first day of Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa a totall of 28 matches will be played with Danish players on the courts.
The last Danes on Tuesday October 18 are Joachim Fischer/Christinna Pedersen (5). They will face Pranaav Chopra/Reddy Sikki from India. The games start at 7.00 p.m.
The Olympic gold medalists from Rio in mixed double, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir (2), will play the last match of the first day of Yonex Denmark Open presented by Danisa when they have to beat Hung/Li from China. That game will begin around 8.30 p.m.
