The young doubles player has reached the top in very short time and today he gots credit for his work
For the third in a row the Comet of the Year-prize was awarded at Yonex Copenhagen Masters, but for the first time it's not a single player who receives the prestigious award. The last two years, Jan Ø. Jørgensen and Viktor Axelsen received the award, and now Mads Conrad-Petersen can put his name on the price, which is sponsored by FUN.
- I am so glad for this award. It was not something I had thought about. It's a great tribute to the development, I've been through since I came to Brøndby, Mads Conrad-Petersen says and adds:
- It means a lot to me that it is management who gives me the prize because it is those people, who I am working with every day, and they know me as a player and as a person, so it means a lot to me that they believe I can go all the way.
From single to double
With experienced Jonas Rasmussen Mads Conrad-Petersen have had a good 2011. They have beaten severeal Top 10-pair, but it has not always been the plan, that Mads Conrad-Petersen should play the men’s double.
In his youth Mads Conrad-Petersen won Youth European Championship in men's singles, but today he is pleased that it was the men’s doubles he chose.
- I have not regretted a second. I was not thinking about double in my youth, although I played both categories, but I got used to the fact that I wanted to beat the best in doubles too. I had never heard of "the first three" when I played U19, and there is still a lot that I can do better, but I've never regretted it. It's great to have someone to celebrate with when things go well because he has sacrificed as much as yourself, Mads Conrad-Petersen says.
Sports chief: He has moved up
Mads Conrad-Petersen was elected as the Comet of the Year by the sports management in Badminton Denmark and the chief of sports at Badminton Denmark Finn Trærup-Hansen thinks there is no doubt that the player can go for a great future.
- After his first trip to Asia he found out he would be ahead on the court. Many players give themselves a chance and just creep forward a little but this boy did this one right up. The shuttles flew around him, and well it did not seem good - at first. But the effort rewarded, eventually. In 2011 he has got some great results. Along with his more experienced partner, he has to meteoric manner raised her level to defeat several of the world's best pair and even world champions, says Finn Trærup-Hansen.
Mads Conrad-Petersen participates in these days of Yonex Copenhagen Masters in Falconer at Frederiksberg, after soon he and the other players at the national team travels to Korea on 31th of December to participate in the first Premier Super Series.
This year's Badminton Player of the Year 2011 will be announced on 29th of December 2011 at 18:30 in Falconer at the finals day at the Yonex Copenhagen Masters.
