The vision behind the Danish bid to host the 2013 or 2014 World Badminton Championships is to further develop badminton on a global scale. We can imagine a new way to celebrate badminton. During the Championships we will host the biggest Badminton Festival
ever. The festival will feature Badminton Academies, Youth Championships, Badminton exhibitions, events with former world champions, street events and much more. We invite the whole world to join us!
Imagine a World Championship that captures all the richness of badminton. An event that brings the world together in a truly global celebration and generates excitement that shines a spotlight on our sport for the whole world to see.
Denmark has always aimed to promote and develop badminton. As a strong contender in worldwide badminton and an experienced host of major sporting events we have all the resources to create an unforgettable event celebrating badminton.
Celebration acts on all levels from celebrating during the events with special VIP set-up’s, festival activities for spectators and of course celebrating the results and athletes.
A new way to celebrate badminton
Badminton is a sport with unique and universal attributes. It brings together a countless number of people from all nationalities and backgrounds, all of whom have one common passion: Badminton.
In Denmark this passion is no different; we are very proud of our badminton roots and even prouder of our achievements.
Our plan also includes involving Para-badminton in the BWF World Championships. By uniting these two events we believe that we can even further spread our message of unity and celebrate our sport under the badminton/para-badminton family umbrella. We are
excited at the opportunity to include the Para-badminton Championships and with our numerous facilities and experience in organisation, we look forward to making this a reality. This Championship will demonstrate to the world that badminton truly is the –
Sport for all.
We want to celebrate badminton – we will reach the young as well as old badminton
players using the Danish club model as a platform. The Badminton Festival – a stage
setting with a common area will showcase badminton in a new and exciting way ensuring
badminton’s popularity is spread throughout the tournament.
As hosts of a number of successful badminton championships over the years - the annual Super Series, the 1996 and 2008 European Championship and the successful World Championships editions in 1983, 1991 and 1999 - Denmark has gained the expertise and developed
a professional approach to hosting, thus ensuring a great experience for all those involved.
With our combined knowledge and drive we can ensure that a World Championships in Denmark continues to develop badminton on all levels.
We want to invite the world to join us in embracing and celebrating endless opportunities to take Badminton to a higher level as we explore new ways of transforming our imagination into reality.
