In men's singles spectators can look forward to a very interesting men's singles, where the Top seed Peter Gade and Taufik Hidayat will face strong competition of the best men's singles from Thailand and Japan - Boonsak Ponsana and Kenichi Tago. Peter Gade will, if current rankings, get to meet Taufik in this year's final at the Denmark Open. Last year's winner Simon Santoso will not participate this year, but it is interesting to see what last year's runner-up Marc Zwiebler can do this year. Other Danish names who will be interesting to follow is Jan Ø. Jørgensen, which stands for a 5/8 seeding and Joachim Persson, who seems to be back in top form. In women's singles, five players from the top ten is represented - Wang Yihan, Tina Baun, Pi Hongyan, Eriko Hirose and Yao Yie - and also in this category will be competition for the title. Tina Baun is defending champion and it could look like a repeat of last year's final between Danish Tina Baun and Chinese Wang Yihan. In men's doubles, there is reunion with Indonesian Kido / Settiawan which stands for a topseedning in the tournament - and this would theoretically also be set for Danish participation as Boe and Mogensen seems to be seeded second if the current ranking holds when the draw will be made October 12. Christinna Pedersen and Joachim Fisher is standing as defending champions in mixed doubles. The Danish couple Laybourn and Juhl will have a 3/4 seeding, while the defending champions 'only' will have a 5/8 seeding. All this is theory - another thing is when the play will start on the pitches in Odense Stadium. The Danish chances to secure a championship in women's doubles is a somewhat greater challenge. If the draw took place today, you will find the danish couples as number 13 and 14 at seeding list, represented by Maria Helsbøl / Anne Skelbæk and Mie Schjøtt / Line Kruse. Two other Danish pair is worth keeping an eye on Lena Frier and Marie Røpke - and the whole new-compound pair Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl, who usually stands on either side of the net in mixed doubles. But there is fierce competition in this category, where two Japanese couples face to face each other in the final. Seeding for Denmark Open 2010 will be published 8th October. The official draw takes place on 12th October.
