The upset happened. The underdogs Mads Conrad and Jonas Rasmussen had their dream coming true, when they beat Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen in the final.
In the opening game it was Jonas Rasmussen and Mads Conrad who took charge of the game. A huge surprise to the audience who expected to see world’s best double to win against the newcomers. But Rasmussen and Conrad seemed focused and their opponents needed indeed inspiration. Therefore there was no way out for the favorites, and they struggled. Mads Conrad and Jonas Rasmussen kept the advantage and won 21-16.

In the second game the two pairs played an even style of match, but Boe and Mogensen had a changed attitude. Boe was swearing and trying to convince himself to do better, and with an 11-9-lead it seemed to work. The changed attitude helped Boe and Mogensen who secured the second game safely 21-14.

The audience could have wondered that it was a walk in the park for Boe and Mogensen, but Conrad and Rasmussen wanted it different – they did not make any kind of mistakes and Boe and Mogensen got frustrated and went down 5-16. But 8 points in a row made the crowd’s hearts stop for a while. And even not the three first match points were enough for Conrad and Rasmussen who had a hard time closing the match. But finally they fell on their knees and celebrated a high unlikely win; 25-23.

Afterwards both were thrilled to be the new winners of Copenhagen Masters:
- It’s fantastic, completely fantastic. I haven’t really figured it out yet, but it is almost my best in my life, Mads Conrad says.
