“Jan Ø. Jørgensen’s win against Peter Gade was the bigget upset of the day. Gade was the tournament favourite and defending champion, but Jørgensen came back strong after being outplayed in the first set.”
Steen Pedersen also noticed Marc Zwiebler’s win againt 8th seed Chinese Chen Long. “I knew that Zwiebler is a talented player, but still I’m surprised that he was able to beat Long in straight set. However, he played really well and looked confident. It will be very interessting to watch Jørgensen and Zwiebler again tomorrow in the semis.”
“In Women’s Singles we saw some positive things from Tine Rasmussen in the second and third set of her quarterfinal. I look forward to see if she can keep up in the semi final against Jie Yao, who looked in form in her quarterfinal today. The other semi final is interesting as well. Wang Yihan is the favourite, but Eriko Hirose showed great form today beating fourth seed Saina Nehwal comfortably,” Steen Pedersen said. | | BadmintonPhoto |
