Kamilla Rytter-Juhl and Thomas Laybourn won their second Denmark Open title as they defeated Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork from England in three sets 21-12 12-21.

In the first set the Danes where in control and had success playing aggresively, putting pressure on Jenny Wallwork. However, the English couple managed to get back in the game, as Nathan Robertson seemed in control the entire second set and took home the set 21-12.

In the third set the Danes got back on track and had the initiative in the offensive play. And after 52 minutes Juhl and Laybourn could celebrate on court as they won the match 21-9 in the second set.

-It is amazing to win one of the biggest titles especially here  in Odense. It is such a good feeling to win at home so at the moment, we are very happy, Thomas Laybourn says.

Playing close to top level

It has been five year’s since Laybourn and Juhl have won the title. The last two year’s another Danish couple, Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen have taken home the title. But now the former world champions are back on the throne.

That means, that Laybourn and Juhl could take home the silver trophee and the prize money of just over 15,000 US Dollars. But even though the Danish pair have been getting better and better througout the tournament they still feel that they have even more to offer.

-We are pretty close to our top level. We are playing really good, but I still feel that there a few things that we can do even better, Thomas Laybourn says.

Next week the newly crowned champions travel to Paris for the French Open to compete for the next Super Series title.
