The third seeded in the ladies doubles event keeps on going. Petya Nedelcheva and Anastasia Russkikh won another victory and are ready for the quarterfinals. Nedelcheva and Russkikh only needed two games this Thursday to finish their match in opposite to their long run yesterday. Again today Nedelcheva and Russkikh had to play Danes as the opponents were Line Kruse and Mie Schjøtt-Kristensen. After their 21-13 and 21-10-win Nedelcheva and Russkikh seemed relieved and happy to be in the next round. Petya Nedelcheva said afterwards that she did not see the partnership as a problem because of their different nationalities. But still they had to get used to their partnership in the beginning of this tournament because they had not played together for a month. But after two wins against Danes, Nedelcheva and Russkikh do want more. They have the goal of this tournament ready: - It is to go to the semis but it is difficult tomorrow against the Japanese. We will play better an if we play our best game, we can win tomorrow, says Petya Nedelcheva.
Japan dominates – England suffers
Nedelcheva and Russkikh will face Matsuo and Naito who destroyed the bravely fighting local hopes Camilla Martens and Celine Juel 21-5 and 21-8.And these are not the only Japanese left. Still there are three more pairs to join the tournament as the two top seeded pairs have not even begun their Denmark Open. They will first get in action tonight. Another well represented nation in the ladies doubles event was England. They had two good chances of getting a spot in the quarterfinals but unfortunately none of them won their third game. Jenny Wallwork and Gabriel White won the first game against their opponents from Thailand but could not keep out the pace and after a long fight the English girls had to resign. The very same situation was repeated an hour later when the other English pair lost – Heather Olver and Mariana Agathangelou won the first game but suddenly the lost control and the Dutch was gone. Therefore the pink shirted Lotte Jonathans and Paulien van Doormalen celebrated and can book another night here in Denmark.
