The organizers of this weekend's big Olympic badminton tournament in Svendborg are all set to welcome Europe's aspiring badminton youth to the fight for 10 Olympic passes. Jimmy Andersen, Events Manager at Badminton Europe, says: "Everything must be 100 percent ready when the 37 players arrive on Friday. All players are deeply focused on their mission to ensure their presence at the YOG in Singapore later this year, and it means that the conditions we are offering them at this qualification must be absolutely perfect". Modern set-up in nostalgic wrapping With Sport Event Fyn and the municipality of Svendborg behind them, Team Svendborg /Tved Badminton strives to make their old badminton arena from 1937 an intimate and pleasant venue with an modern and professional set-up. Jimmi Madsen, President of Team Svendborg/Tved Badminton adds: "Floor and walls are more than 70 years old, but we have placed a number of modern facilities inside the arena, which we know are important especially for the young generation of professional athletes". For instance, the future badminton stars have access to computers with Internet right beside the court. | | Experienced volunteers Funen possess an important experience when it comes to organizing major international badminton tournaments. The Senior Super Series tournament, Denmark Open, has taken place in Odense for the last three years, and the organizers in Svendborg can with great advantage make use of the experiences from this tournament. Among other things many of the volunteers will be the same. The Olympic qualifying tournament ends Sunday afternoon, where the winners have acquired their golden Singapore-tickets. There are games all days from 10.00 am, and entrance is free.
