Viktor Axelsen Brings the Audience Alive

The first men’s singles have been played in the Denmark Open qualification. And to the audience’s delight young local favourite Viktor Axelsen still remains after winning his first match against Valeryi Atrashchenkov.The hall, which is just half full at this stage of the tournament, cheered and clapped along towards the end of the match as it became clear that their favourite only needs one more today in order to play in tomorrow’s main tournament.

In the second match he will face Japanese player Hayasaki who in his first match defeated Danish Kristian Midtgård in his first match.

Another Danish player who still has a shot at the main tournament is Emil Vind as he too won his first match. Both Axelsen and Vind were originally on the waiting list for the qualification tournament and not certain to be participating at all but are now close to entering the main tournament.

Strong International players through to second round

And the next round of the men’s singles qualification will be an interesting mix of players from all over the world. Among the nationalities which are left in the men’s are both One of the international player’s that today’s audience can look forward to seeing in action is chinese
He will be playing to enter the tournament in the next round after winning his first match against a Dane.

Danish player Peter Mikkelsen came close to shaking the Chinese player in the first set, but was defeated 21-18 21-8.

In this match another Asian awaits as Wang will be playing against Daren Liew from Malaysia.
