When Sudirman Cup is played in 2011, it is not only be the Danish players who will be going to China. Two Danish umpires will be representing Denmark as Henrik Boas and Erik Kirt will be judging the matches between some of the world’s finest badminton players.

Henrik Boas is an umpire at the highest European level and this Wednesday during Denmark Open he found out that he had been nominated by Badminton Europe to go to Sudirman Cup in 2011.

The Surdiman Cup will be held in the Chinese province Qing Dao and Henrik Boas is looking forward to the trip itself  as well as being an umpire.

-It is fantastic, it is what all umpires dream to experience. As a young umpire you aim to get to go to the biggest tournaments and that dream is coming true for me now, Henrik Boas says.

At Denmark Open the two umpires have both been up in the high chair leading the players through their matches. However, Henrik Boas expects the Chinese Sudirman-experience to be very different from the European tournaments that he is used to.

-I know that it will be a huge experience and it will be a big task for me. I have been told, that both the audience and the media are very intense in China, but I hope that I will be able to use my experience to handle the situations that I am put in as an umpire, Henrik Boas says.
