The four winners of the qualification in the men’s singles are now known. And two of them are young guns from Denmark. The 16-year-old Viktor Axelsen from Odense crushed Hayasaki from Japan in two straight sets. The Odense-kid was truly pleased after this important win - he waved to his crowd and told afterwards, he was very happy about their commitment to his game. Axelsen’s 21-12 and 21-17-win means he is ready for his first Super Series-tournament. Matthew Lo Ping from France waits for him in the opening round and the young Dane is satisfied with his draw but still do not see himself as the favorite.
China’s star is out
Emil Vind doubled the Danish success. He has had an incredible day and he ended it lying on the floor celebrating. First he beat Misha Zilberman and continued the great play against Chan from Malaysia. Chan was sent home with only 11 and 14 points and Vind is now ready for the second seeded Taufik Hidayat. The two other finals both went into three sets. And especially the match between Liew from Malaysia and the favorite Wang Zhengming from China was a tough one. Liew won surprisingly after an hour’s play with 21-18 in the final set. Also German Marcel Reuter is through to the main draw as he defeated Anup Sridhar in three sets. Watch live stream, click here |
