They have celebrated wins in Odense for the last two years, but it will not be three in a row for Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen.
The Danes will not defend their title as they lost today against Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thounthongkam from Thailand. Saralee and Sudket were in control most of the match and the greatest example was shown at the score 10-8. 8 points in a row for the Thais and from the point the Danes could not trail any more.
Fischer and Pedersen did not have the lead at any time in the second game and must realize a 21-15 21-15 loss against the fourth seeded.
We play really bad today. It has been a long time since we have played this bad. Our opponents showcased our inability to move fast enough on court, so we must return home and keep working.
We have played some good tournaments in Asia lately, but this wasn’t good. But I’m confident we will rise again, Joachim Fischer says.
He and Christinna have not lost any kind of hope and know what they are aiming for:
We are now heading for the qualification to the Olympics in May, where we have to be in total shape. On the way there are some tournaments we want to win. It will be tough but we just have to work, he ended.
While the Danes are out Saralee and Sudket are to meet Vita Marissa and Hendra Gunawan. They had more trouble finding their way to the semis. The Indonesians beat German Fuchs and Overzier 21-15 in the final game.
