At the end of June it’s the last chance for the national badminton associations to send their offer to BWF, if they want to be a part of the World Championship in 2013 or 2014. And Badminton Association of Denmark is ready to make their offer.
- It’s important for Denmark as a nation to have the World Championship for individuals on Danish soil, says chief executive of Badminton Association of Denmark Charlotte Malmroes.
- It’s important for the Danish players to play on their home ground and to show, that their country can arrange a tournament like this. But it is also important for the clubs. It’s a platform for the clubs, where they have the possibility to show their players,
that the best players of the world are coming to our country. It’s the clubs who raises the best upcoming stars, says Malmroes.
Dedicated people can make the dream come true
The last time the World Championship was held in Denmark in 1999 and Malmroes it sure, that the Danes can make a great setup for a tournament like the World Championship.
- From the Denmark Open Premier Super Series we know that we can make a great setup for a big tournament. The practical work we know we can, and we know, that we have a lot of people, who are ready to make the things running. People who are dedicated to the
sport of badminton. They are ready to take a holiday in the name of the sport, Charlotte Malmroes says.
In 1999 more people started to play badminton after the World Championship held on Danish soil, and Charlotte Malmroes hopes for the same effect, if the big tournament will be in played in 2013 or 2014.
- The interest of badminton will be bigger in Denmark, and I hope that the effect of 1999 will be the same in 2013 or 2014.
