It was extremely close but luckily the Danes had strong nerves at the end. First set the two couples were equal. The Danes lead ahead most of the set but the polish couple followed closely. Just until the end of the set where Pedersen/Fischer pulled away and won 21-18.

Second set was as exciting at the previews. The Danes tried to pull away but Nadiezda Kostjuczyk and Robert Mateusiak kept on fighting. The Danes lost focus and made some stupid mistakes and then suddenly the polish couple took the lead and won the set 19-21.

Third set Pedersen/Fischer seemed a bit irritated about loosing second set but after a while the Danes regained the focus and fought their way back into the match. They won the set 23-21.

Nice to get a close one
It was a really important victory for the Danish mixed double. Lately they have been loosing some close matches in third set because they lost focus. This time they stroke back.

“We know we shouldn’t have kept it so close. It was a difficult match because the polish couple has been playing a really good tournament. But we knew we could beat them. And so we did. Now we are more then ready to defend our title, said Christinna Pedersen after the match.

European Final
The Danes are now closer than ever to defend the title. In the final they are up against Donna Kellogg and Anthony Clark from England who beat their opponents from China, Yawen Zhang/Jiaming Tao, 21-18 21-17. The Danes have played the couple twice. At last year’s Denmark Open the Danes beat the English couple. They have also lost a match against them.

If Pedersen and Fischer play their best they have good chances going all the way. But Kellogg and Clark is not an easy couple to play. Lets see what happens tomorrow.
