Justice was done on Tuesday. The big talent Viktor Axelsen is finally allowed to play at the Denmark Open Super Series next week. It is a reality after three withdraws, which have given him a place in qualifying rounds. It will be a special experience, since 16-year-old talent will perform on home ground in Odense Idræt. Last year he starred in qualifying in men's doubles, but they did not beat their way through. Fortunately, this year there is a spot for the Odense-kid in the men’s singles, and Axelsen is looking forward to play the Super Series: - I am very pleased to play the Denmark Open, it is on home court and I am looking forward to play, Axelsen says from Holland, where his is playing Dutch Open as a preparation for next week’s Denmark Open.
Axelsen won the world Junior Championships earlier this year. He has had success so far at home in Odense while playing the Badminton League matches. Axelsen hasonly lost to Peter Gade, but he has beaten both Scott Evans and Kasper Ipsen. Yet Axelsen has difficulties to verbalize his goals for the tournament before he knows his draw: - It is obviously difficult to say because I do not know the draw, but I expect one or more cooland educational games, he says. Viktor Axelsen adds that he hope for massive support from his friends in Odense and the rest of Badminton Denmark: - Audience can mean a lot. I like playing in front of home crowd and hope that there will be a lot in the stadium.
