All the Danish home favorites won their semifinals at the afternoon session at the 2015 Yonex Copenhagen Masters. Denmark has already secured a spot in the finals in every category on sunday.
Viktor Axelsen won the first men’s singles semi-final at the Yonex Copenhagen Masters 2014. He defeated Tommy Sugiarto from Indonesia 21-17, 21-15. The match between the two semi-finalists at the World Championship resulted in a win for Viktor Axelsen and his strong offense, which was simply too much for Tommy Sugiarto today.
- I’m very happy for advancing to the final and I’m satisfied with my performance today. My game plan was to put Sugiarto under a lot of pressure, and I succeeded well in doing so, Axelsen told after the match.
Axelsen’s opponent in the final is not set yet, but it will be revealed later as Jan Ø. Jørgensen and Teck Zhi Soo goes head to head in the semifinal of the evening.
Subistitute Mogensen sealed the deal
It should have been Mads Pieler Kolding who was called into the stage at the Falconer Hall. Unfortunately, he was not able to play because of an injury. Kamilla Rytter Juhl was then teamed up with men's doubles expert Carsten Mogensen, which turned out to be a good solution. The Danes won 21-17 21-19 against the the Germans Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels.
- I had no problems playing two matches today. I am in good shape and we have played together several times in practice, says Carsten Mogensen.
The Germans have had a solid 2014 with two times runners up in Super Series finals. Nevertheless, Mogensen came to the rescue for the Danish home crowd and secured a least one Danish spot in the mixed doubles final.
In the final Carsten Mogensen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl will face either countrymen Joachim Fischer/Christinna Pedersen or Indonesians Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili.
